My Engagement

I have some very exciting news…last night, February 10th, I got engaged to the love of my life!

I had been at home working and planning how to make the proposal…trying to incorporate our little “chug” (a chihuahua pug mix).

I had made an elaborate plan for popping the question and it turned into one of the moments where I was so nervous and excited that nothing went as expected!

Lawrie, my fiance, got home late from work and was on the phone talking to one of her best friends. This was the first problem because I had wanted to catch her the moment she walked in the door before we went out for a romantic dinner.

Because she was on the phone I sent her a text message saying “Get OFF the phone!”…but she did not listen.

So I called her and told her the same message…she hung up the phone and I let Dori (the dog) loose because I had put the ring around her collar. Dori was supposed to jump the baby fence we have to keep her from going upstairs when no one is home and run to Lawrie.

Well Lawrie was already coming up the stairs…second problem…it is hard to get down on one knee in the middle of the stairs.

She picked up Dori and saw the ring…I am editing out a little bit…I got down on both knees and instead of asking the question, I looked more like I was begging!.

Just picture me on both knees, Lawrie on the stairs above me, and Dori trying to jump and lick us because she was so excited!

It was quite the scene…but she said yeas, we enjoyed a nice dinner out, and we will be getting married towards the end of this year!

There is no take-away message from my story…I just wanted to share my excitement with you!

Cheers,

Oh yeah…another funny part of the story.

So I called the restaurant to make reservations and they asked if it was a special occasion…you know like a birthday, anniversary or engagement.

I told them…”I am thinking about getting engaged!”

So at the end of the dinner the manager came over to congratualte us on our engagement…the ring made it obvious.  He said…”everyone has been on pins and needles, you were marked in the reservation as ‘potential engagement’…”

    Ross,
Congratulations to you and Lawrie. What do they say about the best laid plans of men. Hey, that’s what memories are made of, right! If things did not go wrong every now and then we would have nothing to laugh at. Years from now you guys will look back and have some great memories to laugh at about your proposal. Blessings on you both.

That’s awesome news Ross. I can totally relate on the engagement not exactly going according to plan, but we’ve been married 2 and a half years now, and it’s great. My wife and I happen to do wedding photography as well, so when you get to that point, we’d be happy to talk to you about shooting your wedding. http://hayesphoto.biz
Congrats and best of luck to you guys!

    Hey Ross

Congrats on your engagement. Too bad you didn’t get a video of you on your knees begging for her hand in marriage. I got a good visual anyway and I can’t stop giggling!

Very touching and quite sweet really.

Wishing you and Lawrie a fabulous future and many, many, children. Give that octuplet mom a run for her money! lol

    All the Best,

    Barb
